City walk following the traces of the Jewish ghetto with Michael Lenarz

Fri, March 22, 2:00 PM

22 March 2024 Museum Judengasse, Battonnstraße 47

Michael Lenarz, the former Deputy Director of the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, provides a comprehensive overview of the historical development of Frankfurt's Judengasse from its inception in 1462 to the year 1887, when the street was finally demolished. This short walk covers some of its former topography in the urban space. The tour starts at the Judengasse Museum and ends in the recently accessible historic cellar Golden Apple under a Japanese restaurant, which once belonged to a resident of the Frankfurt Judengasse. The cellar bears witness to the street's constant changes after the fire of 1796, when Frankfurt was shelled by French troops and this part of the street was subsequently rebuilt. The Golden Apple is not accessible for people with disabilities.
