City walk following the traces of the Jewish ghetto

Fri, March 22, 12:00 PM

22 March 2024 Museum Judengasse, Battonnstraße 47

Explore the topography of the former Frankfurt Judengasse in the urban space. We will meet at the Judengasse Museum, where the foundations of five cellars will give you an insight into the living conditions of Jews in the early modern period. Wells, two mikvehs, and archaeological finds tell of everyday life in Europe's oldest Jewish ghetto. A large part of the alley ran under today's Kurt Schumacher Street, while the northern part corresponds to the course of the street at Staufenmauer, where the Golden Apple, a vaulted cellar from the Judengasse after the ghetto era, is located. Our city walk begins at the Judengasse Museum and takes you along the course of the alley into the Golden Apple.
