Bing

There were at least ten families named Bing in the Judengasse, but they were not interrelated. They had moved to Frankfurt from the small town of BingenamRhein at various times, although several families made the move in 1530. There were also families who originated from Bingen, but who subsequently adopted the names of their houses, such as Leiter, Reuss, or Strauss. Several Bing families were related to the influential HaasKann family. Several family members held office as leaders for the Jewish community. Other families produced many scholars, rabbinical judges, or dayanim, and businessmen. Bing was also the name of a wellknown family of doctors who lived in the Judengasse in the Blume.
