House Goldenes Schaf

The Goldenes Schaf was created in 1584 by subdividing the neighbouring Fisch, later known as the Silberne Kanne. It seems to have been a relatively small house, with mostly relatively poor occupants. At the end of the 17th century a night watchman lived here with his family, together with several "foreigners" who had been staying in Frankfurt for some time without having right of residence in other words, unofficial visitors. The occupants at the end of the 17th century also included a minstrel and a family specifically noted as being poor. The house was destroyed in the fire of 1711 but soon rebuilt. In 1883/84 the city took it over for demolition.
