The Goldenes Rößlein was built in 1509 by Simon von Geismar. Simon had acquired right of residence four years previously. After his death in 1520 his widow, her son and his wife continued to live in the house until the middle of the century.
Other occupants were members of the Goldschmidt, Fuld, Schloß and Schiff families. Meyer Isaac Fuld, who lived in the house in the 17th century, was a member of the burial fraternity. It was said of him that he was "honest in word and deed, and ready at all times to do a good deed". In 1694 a widow and her son lived here who dealt in spices, together with a manservant and a maid. In 1703 there were two families living in the house, in 1709 three. The house was destroyed in the fire of 1711 but soon rebuilt. In 1880 the city took it over for demolition.
